What to Expect
A Gurdwara is a place of worship for Sikhs, but it is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Visitors can participate in prayers, listen to hymns, and enjoy the communal meal known as Langar.
The Gurdwara is a place of equality, humility, and service.
Guidelines for Visitors
- Dress Modestly: Please wear modest clothing that covers your arms and legs. This shows respect for the sacred space.
- Head Covering: All visitors are required to cover their heads while inside the Gurdwara. Scarves and bandanas are available at the entrance if you do not have your own.
- Shoes Off: Remove your shoes before entering the main prayer hall. Shoe racks are provided for your convenience.
- Cleanliness: Ensure you are clean and tidy before entering the Gurdwara. Washing hands and feet is encouraged.
- Silence and Reverence: Maintain silence in the prayer hall to respect those who are praying and meditating. Mobile phones should be on silent mode.
- No Intoxicants: Consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or any other intoxicants is strictly prohibited on Gurdwara premises.
- Participation in Langar: Everyone is welcome to join the communal meal. Please sit on the floor as a sign of humility and equality. Help with serving or cleaning up if you can.
- Respect for Scriptures: The Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture, is treated with the utmost respect. Please do not touch it.
